Readings for the Week of September 7
On Saturday we begin a new sermon series called, “Keeping It Weird”. We are going to explore some of the things that we do that really are weird. At first blush, things like baptism, the Lord’s Supper, reading the Bible, and prayer don’t seem that strange. But, when taken on their own terms, they challenge all modern day assumptions and ridicule much of what we take for granted. In addition, these “weird” activities, spin out more and more weirdness. And for this, we can only thank God.
Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
