Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. – Revelation 3:22
We will continue our exploration of Revelation this weekend with an examination of the individual letters written to the churches of Asia. The overall message of the letters is timely and speaks to us as part of the 21st century Church.
This time of year is referred to as Epiphanytide. It is the season between the Epiphany and Ash Wednesday. Apart from its religious significance, the word Epiphany means “an experience of sudden and striking realization”, a revelation perhaps? As we celebrate the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles it is good for us to celebrate Christ’s further manifestation to all the world. What better season? Revelation and Epiphany go together.
Give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our
Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
