Ps 19Exodus 20:1-20Isaiah 5:1-7Philippians 3:4-14Matthew 21:33-46

It has been a difficult day. It has been a difficult few weeks. Tragedy strikes, people die, and all of us, even from a distance, are traumatized. Into these moments let us lean into prayer and remember to whom we belong.

Here is the collect for this week:

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

To further assist us in prayer, for those who suffer and those who serve the suffering, (from the BCP):

O God, you manifest in your servants the signs of your
presence: Send forth upon us the spirit of love, that in
companionship with one another your abounding grace may
increase among us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
