“Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.” – Phil 4:5

Every quarter of the church has reported that fewer and fewer men participate in church. Some describe it as a crisis, others complain about the feminization of the church. Responses over the years have included ministries for men like PromiseKeepers, books Like Wild at Heart, and other efforts that emphasize traditionally masculine activities like hunting and competitive sports. Many of these have had positive results, others of overshot their mark.

“The Church needs men”,  has been a rallying cry for men’s ministries for years. More accurately, men need the church. Being a man is a good thing. Men need to come in contact with Christ in order to redeem their masculinity.

Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
