“God has brought laughter for me, everyone who hears will laugh with me.” ~ Sarah, from Genesis 21:6

The Trinity by RublevThe story of Abraham and Sarah tells us as much about the origins of our faith than do the stories of Adam and Eve. Scripture repeatedly tells the story of God creating a people. Abraham and Sarah are the originals, from them come God’s new family, a family which, through Christ, extends to us.

God’s promises are joyful, often unexpected, and occasions for laughter. Sarah gets a bad wrap for laughing at an angel. May her story remind us to laugh with the angels when given the chance.

Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast
faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim
your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with
compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
